Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown hosted a reception on 13 December for the Auckland Consular Corps. Consul General Chen Shijie and over 60 consular representatives attended the event. In his speech, Mayor Brown expressed gratitude to the Auckland Consular Corps for its contributions to practical cooperation between Auckland and relevant countries, as well as the development of Auckland. Brown recalled with pleasure his recent visit to China and called on all stakeholders to support Auckland's efforts to enhance international connectivity and expand cooperation with international partners. Brown also played his banjo, and sang the Māori song Tūtira mai ngā iwi with the mayoral office team. During the reception, Consul General Chen warmly talked with Mayor Brown and other consular representatives, exchanging views on promoting cooperation between the consular district and China, as well as enhancing exchanges between consulates.
