On January 19, Consul General Chen Shijie attended the concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to Motherland and the Spring Festival Gala dinner hosted by the Peaceful Reunification of China Association of New Zealand. Around 100 guests including Mr. Chen Jinming and Mr. Steven Waicheung Wong, President and Honorary President of the Peaceful Reunification of China Association of New Zealand, Mr. Mike Dawson, President of the New Zealand-China Friendship Society Auckland Branch, attended the event.

Chen extended New Year greetings to the overseas Chinese and stated that Macao has maintained continuous stability and prosperity over the past 25 years. Chen noted the historic leaps of Macao’s economic and social development and the remarkable achievements that has won widespread acclaim from the international community. These achievements would not have been possible without the continuous support of the patriotic overseas Chinese. Chen stressed that under the principle of the "one country, two systems" and with the joint efforts of the Chinese people at home and abroad, Macao will surely write an even more glorious new chapter.

At the concert, local Chinese art groups performed wonderful programs such as "Song of the Seven Sons", winning rounds of applause.
