The launching ceremony of "Happy Chinese New Year" and the opening ceremony of the digital art exhibition "A Panorama of River and Mountains" were held in Auckland on January 25, 2025. Chinese Ambassador H.E. Dr. Wang Xiaolong, Consul General  Chen Shijie, New Zealand Members of Parliament Nancy Lu and Carlos Cheung attended the event. Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown sent a video message of congratulations.


In his speech, Consul General Chen Shijie extended New Year greetings and best wishes to fellow compatriots, Chinese institution staffs, overseas students and New Zealand friends in the consular districts, acknowledged the positive role of "Happy Chinese New Year" activities in promoting multicultural development in New Zealand.

He noted that with the Spring Festival inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Spring Festival culture has increasingly spread to the world, the world has also embraced the Chinese Spring Festival with open arms. In combination with the historical and cultural background of "A Panorama of River and Mountains", Consul General Chen explained China's concept of green development and expressed that China will join hands with New Zealand friends on the road of green development and benefit all mankind.

This is another Chinese national treasure exhibition in New Zealand after the multimedia exhibition "Along the Riverside of Qingming Festival” in 2022. It is also the overseas debut for "A Panorama of River and Mountains". The exhibition runs until March 2.
