Consul General Chen Shijie attended“Laughter in NZ-China Quyi Overseas Tour 2025”and gave remarks on 11 June. Huang Qun, Secretary-General of China Quyi Artists Association, Mike Dawson, President of New Zealand-China Friendship Society and over 3,000 audience watched performances brought by renowned performing artists such as Wu Xiangjun, Gong Hanlin and Pan Qiwei.

Consul General Chen welcomed “China Quyi Overseas Tour” to visit New Zealand again, introduced the history of Chinese quyi, emphasized the significance of promoting exchanges and mutual learning between the civilizations of China and NZ in light of the United Nations' "International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations", and acknowledged the positive contributions made by overseas Chinese in the consular district in promoting Chinese culture as well as bilateral relations between China and New Zealand.

The entire performance lasted for more than three hours. The artists fully displayed the charm of Quyi from different places of China and demonstrated their skills in narrating, imitating, teasing and singing. Laughter and joy filled the audience, and the atmosphere was very lively.

Before the performance, Consul General Chen and President Mike Dawson jointly witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between China Quyi Artists Association and New Zealand International Art Exchange Association.
