On 24 June, Vice Consul General Wang Junchao attended the Guangzhou Cultural and Tourism Promotion Event jointly hosted by Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism and China Southern Airlines. Deputy Mayor of Guangzhou Jiang Zhitao, Mayor of Auckland Wayne Brown along with more than a hundred representatives from the tourism industries of both countries attended the event.

Wang pointed out that cultural and tourism exchange is an important part of our bilateral relations. The number of mutual visits has been on the rise after the pandemic, especially since China implemented a visa-free policy for NZ tourists and New Zealand announced visa facilitation measures for Chinese citizens lately. Guangzhou is rich in cultural and tourism resources. Both sides should make full use of advantages such as sister cities and direct flights to deepen regional cooperation and advance people-to-people exchanges between the two countries to a new level.

Representatives from the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and China Southern Airlines respectively made presentations on cultural and tourism projects and products. A kiwi teenager representative shared her experience of visiting China. Artists from both countries jointly performed folk music with Guangdong characteristics.
