BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Aviation authorities from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan reached consensus on Friday to complete plans to add 100 more flights between the two regions as soon as possible.

In May, both sides agreed that each side would add 50 flights per week, raising the number of flights across the strait from 270 to 370.

However, on August 2, Taiwan's aviation authority announced that 31 of the new flights had been suspended.

Both sides began discussing this issue on Thursday, and the mainland aviation authority issued a circular on Friday reviewing the talks.

According to the circular, the two sides talked about many technical issues and the mainland sought Taiwan's understanding regarding the status quo of the mainland's busy air routes.

Further, both sides agreed to resume additional flights as soon as possible and strengthen talks over cross-Straits aviation exchanges.
