Tibet's output value reaches 8.67 bln yuan in Q1

BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Tibet's output value, a major measurement of its economy, reached 8.67 billion yuan(1.27 billion U.S. dollars) in the first quarter of this year, up 8.9 percent year on year, the Regional Bureau of Statistics said.

The region's tertiary industry had an added-value of 6,766 million yuan in the first quarter,78 percent of the total, up 9.2 percent. Its primary and secondary industries reported an added-value of 963 and 943 million yuan, respectively.

Tibet's investment in fixed assets came to 1.3 billion yuan, a 15.3 percent rise over the same period of last year, with the construction industry having an added-value of 482 million yuan, up 16.2 percent.

The region's exports and imports amounted to 175 million U.S. dollars in the first quarter, a 150-percent jump year on year.

At the end of March the deposits of financial institutions in Tibet reached 100.4 billion yuan, an 18-percent rise year on year, with the balance of loans reaching 25.9 billion yuan, surging 12.8 percent.
