On 13 September, Vice Consul General Wang Junchao attended the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese National Day Celebration Dinner hosted by the New Zealand Taishan Chinese Association Incorporated (NZTCAI). Around 240 people including New Zealand Member of Parliament Carlos Cheung, representatives of the Chinese community and NZTCAI members attended the event.

In his remarks, Wang extended festive greetings and best wishes to the Chinese community on behalf of the Consulate-General. He said that China is advancing Chinese modernisation through high-quality development, while China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership is also presented with broad prospects for further development. He hoped that Chinese communities in the consular district would continue to serve as a bridge between China and New Zealand, support the development and modernisation of the motherland and ancestral homeland, share stories of China and of China-New Zealand friendship, and contribute to the sustained and sound development of bilateral relations.

The dinner was held in a warm and joyous atmosphere, with guests coming together to celebrate the festive season and share friendship and fellowship.
