On 17 October, the Chinese Consulate-General in Auckland held a special session to provide consular services for senior members of the Chinese community on the occasion of the Chongyang Festival, offering services including passport and travel document applications and annual pension qualification verification.

Vice Consul General Liu Pengxiang attended the event and extended festive greetings to the elderly members of the Chinese community.  Liu said that consular services are an important manifestation of the principle of “diplomacy for the people”. In recent years, the Consulate-General has held consular service sessions for Chongyang Festival annually, provided on-site consular services in Hamilton and Whangārei, and organised outreach activities in local communities and schools to raise awareness of consular protection and fraud prevention. This year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period. The Consulate-General will continue to improve the quality and efficiency of its consular services, striving to make services more accessible and convenient for members of the Chinese community and ensuring that they experience the care and warmth of consular assistance.

During the event, Consulate-General staff answered enquiries and assisted elderly community members with various consular procedures. The services were warmly welcomed and highly appreciated by those in attendance.
